Fighters Results

In 2012 our students had a fantastic year fighting all over the UK and have continued to do the same in 2013 here are our results.

EAST Coast Kickboxing and Karate Academy (ECKA) attended Jason Dorn’s Sedition Fight League in Ilkeston Derbyshire recently.

They had three students competing along with instructor Steph Young, who ought to defend her IAKSA/ASKO Ladies Open Weight Sport Karate National title she won back in February 2012.
First up from ECKA was Lisa Slater, 20, who fought three rounds points and won all three, making her the club’s first winner on the night.
Next up was Louis Gallagher, 11, who fought points. It was a tough fight as the boy was much taller than him. He fought well but missed out this time making him runner-up.
Then Emily Kelly, 14, fought for the School Girl title. This was only her second competition and she fought a girl who had a lot of more experience, but she gave her a tough fight and it was close, but she also finished runner-up.
Finally Steph Young, 23, defended her title. She lost the first round but then, with the help of her corner man Jason Dorn, won the next two to retain the title.
Steph said: “I am over the moon I have won the title for the second time in a row.“I could not have done this without Jason, he really helped me in my corner.“Also all the supporters who travelled down to Ilkeston to support me and the team made us all work that bit harder. “What a great weekend it was, win or lose we all had a fantastic time.“Hopefully I will get the opportunity to try and defend the title for the third time either later this year or beginning of next.”

This was ECKA’s first of many competitions they have lined up for 2013.
